Transportation
Public transportation can be used to visit The Magic House.
Metro
Visitors can ride Metrolink to the Shrewsbury Station. From there take bus #56 to The Magic House. For schedules and additional information, please visit www.metrostlouis.org.
Amtrak
Amtrak’s Kirkwood Station is only five blocks from The Magic House with trains arriving daily.
From Downtown St. Louis
During summer and weekends, families can make a day of it by riding the train into Kirkwood from the downtown station, the St. Louis Gateway Transportation Center. Train 311 leaves downtown St. Louis at 8:30 am and arrives in Kirkwood at 8:59 am. Spend a fun-filled morning at The Magic House exploring hundreds of interactive exhibits on display. You can even grab some lunch at the museum’s Picnic Basket Cafe, before catching the Train 314 at 12:28 pm and arriving back downtown by 1:10 pm.
West of St. Louis
The Amtrak Missouri River Runner arrives daily at the Kirkwood Station in time to visit The Magic House in the early afternoon with a return train later that same day. Visitors can leave from Kansas City, Jefferson City, Hermann and Washington, Missouri. For more information on train schedules in your community, please visit www.amtrak.com.
